Biography

Jack Klein (Jacko) (b. 2001, Denver, CO) is a multidisciplinary artist working between art, craft, and design. His practice centers on textile construction, bold color, and relational form.

Klein studied Environmental Product Design and Art Practices, where he developed technical skills in patterning, fabrication, and material systems. His background as a fashion buyer and art fabricator informs his approach to structure, construction, and material reuse.

His work has been presented at D3 Arts Gallery in Denver, CO. Klein currently lives and works in Brooklyn, New York.

Statement

My practice investigates systems of assembly through textile, recycled materials, laser-cut components, and pigment. Across media, I construct modular forms that expand, interlock, or accumulate without arriving at fixed resolution. The works suggest organic growth while remaining visibly constructed.

Working with protanopia (red/green color blindness), I assemble color intuitively rather than conventionally. This altered perception informs bold, high-contrast palettes that emphasize spatial vibration and surface tension.

Whether sewing dense textile bodies, cutting interlocking acrylic forms, or wiring recycled plastics onto armatures, I approach each material through engineered construction. Pattern development, industrial sewing, laser cutting, heat manipulation, and structural reinforcement are central to my process. I am interested in how synthetic materials can be manipulated to swell, droop, cluster, or bloom while revealing their artificial origins.

Recurring strategies include modular systems with no singular solution, weighted or sagging appendages, and forms that rely on collective balance. These structures assemble differently within each environment, privileging adaptation over permanence.

By designing systems that remain open-ended, I propose instability and interdependence as formal conditions for occupying space.
